Did You Know? Baby Elephants Suck Their Trunks Like Pacifiers

Baby elephants probably won’t start to notice its “thing” until nine months after birth.⁠

Before they realize the use of it, they kinda pretend it’s not there. This makes it ugly when they’re trying to bend down and drink some water. It get messy. They’re just not flexible enough yet to stretch and turn and twist around. Drinking water by the pond pretty much means having a face wash too.⁠

It’s actually kinda cute that they don’t know how to use their trunks yet. Because they occasionally trip themselves, and it’s hella cute. (They might be secretly complaining?)⁠

Researchers have also noticed that when baby elephants are nervous or anxious, they tend to put their trunks into their mouths as a pacifier.⁠
