45 must have a huge bladder.

If you want to get better at lying, you’ve got to count on that sack. A study reveals that suppressing the urge to pee might influence your ability to tell lies.

So the study was backed by a little experiment. Here’s how it went: There are two groups of students. Group A was required to have 1.7oz (50 c.c.) of water, while group B gets 24 oz (700 c.c.). Both groups were asked to hold urine while lying intentionally during interviews — the results have shown that group B, which had more water, reacted more naturally, and seemed calmer.

Weird huh? Restraining pee triggers the inhibitory spillover effect. It’s an effect that happens when a sequence of self-controlling tasks overrides another. So the students who had more water somehow shifted that control of the bladder onto their minds instead. They were pressing down the truth in the back of their heads. Ever wonder how people can lie so naturally? Drinking some water might be the reason why — especially a mouthful when you’re debating.
