Did You Know? Loners Spend More Time In The Bathtub.
Ziploc your phone and you’re all set.
Studies have shown that there’s a correlation between body temperatures and loneliness. That means, for example, if you handed a cup of hot coffee to a lonely person, they’d feel loved. 😍 Just like that. You could literally warm someone up to make them feel better. Other experiments even suggest a rising body temperature can deceive yourself into a feeling of acceptance by others.
A survey was done by asking 50 college students to mark their levels of loneliness and describe their daily routines. Nothing odd, there were questions such as how often they exercised or what their sleeping habits were. However, how they bathed was stripped down to the details. Questions included how often, how long, a use of hot or cold water, and a shower or bathtub liking🛀.
The results showed that those who had a higher loneliness level preferred longer baths, higher water temperatures, and a preference for bathtubs. This suggests that loners tend to seek for physical warmth. And there’s no better place to look for it in the bathtubs, on the skin. The lonelier you are, the more likely you’d be having a hot bath.
But again, if you’re trying to be with someone before it’s too chilly, get that extra coffee ready. Shove it in the hands of that hottie you met last week.
We’ve mentioned in #Fact050 before how body temperature is correlated to loneliness. Basically, loneliness is a type of stress and anxiety. When our bodies try to cope with it, our automatic nervous system starts to pump blood to the more critical parts such as the heart or brain. Finally, leading to lower body temperatures.
Human bodies are a miracle and do its’ job right so we can hop around whenever. But by redirecting our entire blood flow to one place does make it a little chilly.
An interesting side note is when our icy fingers are in contact with a hot beverage, we are more likely to join in some teamwork. Multiple experiments back up the theory that warmer objects can heal loneliness temporarily.
Finally, we really just want to remind everyone here to bathe even if it’s chilly. Don’t be lazy.
